In Gratitude for the Life of Al Dusek

Al Dusek (1936 - 2024)
Allyn Keith Dusek, age 87, died on November 27, 2024 at his home in Rockwall, Texas.
Al was born in Sweetwater, Nebraska on December 23, 1936 to Albin and Eva Dusek (née Macek). As a boy, he attended a one-room schoolhouse and then graduated from Ravenna High School. He was a paratrooper in the Army Airborne and was stationed in Germany and Lebanon. He graduated from Omaha University (Univ of Nebraska, Omaha) with a degree in Engineering. It was there that he met Rita in 1959, and they were married in 1960. He earned a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University in 1970. He worked his entire career for Western Electric (now AT&T) and helped develop fiber optic networks. He was a proud member and leader in The Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Forney.
Al loved photography, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Indy 500, Nascar, stock car races, and his numerous collections. He traveled 48 states on his Harley. He showed meticulous attention to detail and laughed at his own “dumb dad” jokes. He was married to Rita for 64 years and was proud to take their children on vacations to a different part of the country each year.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Norman. He is survived by his wife Rita and their four children Kelly McKeever of Omaha, Kent & Michelle of Rockwall, Kyle of Camarillo, CA, and Kevin & Kim of Omaha. He was proud of his eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held January 25, 2025 at Ladera Rockwall Hub, 900 Bella Drive, Rockwall. 2:00 Visitation, 2:30 Service, with visitation time and snacks following the service. Memorials can be given to The First Presbyterian Church - Forney, TX or to The Arbor Day Foundation.
A memorial service will be planned for Omaha, NE in June, 2025.
